What is Sociocracy?

This video is about 20 minutes. To see sociocracy in action, ask us about attending one of our meetings.

How We Make Decisions

In daily life, there are many ways people make decisions and create structure. At work, a boss usually has the final say—sometimes with input from others, sometimes not. In families, one person may lead the decision-making, or parents may talk things through (or debate!) until they reach an agreement.

Sunnyside Village Cohousing works a little differently. We don’t have one person in charge, and we don’t expect everyone to agree on everything. Instead, we use a decision-making system called Sociocracy, which helps us make thoughtful, inclusive decisions while keeping things clear and organized.
