What is Cohousing?
Cohousing is a modern way of creating intentional neighborhoods that prioritize strong, supportive relationships between neighbors. Communities are often built around shared values or a common mission, which can vary from place to place, but all cohousing communities share one core goal: fostering a close-knit environment where people truly know, care for, and support one another.
Cohousing combines private homes with communal shared spaces designed to foster connection, cooperation, and belonging. Each household is a self-contained, fully equipped home for private time, while shared areas, like a dining room, garden, and outdoor spaces, are where neighbours can gather for group meals, social activities, and everyday support.
At its heart, cohousing is about intentional living: people choosing to live in a way that puts their values and interpersonal connection at the heart of everyday life. It’s a neighborhood built not just of homes, but of relationships, where you know your neighbors, share resources, and create a better quality of life together.
